A spectacular specimen tree, Carpinus betulus 'Pendula', has weeping arching branched with gray muscle-like bark. Large, green, glossy leaves turn yellow in the fall. Dioecious (separate male and female flowers), male trees have yellow catkins and female trees have green catkins.
