A clump-forming, upright vase-shaped perennial, Hylotelephium telephium 'Matrona' features masses of densely clustered buds revealing star-like pastel pink flowers in large flattened heads from mid-summer to the early fall on top of sturdy ruby upright stems. Flowers sit on top of fleshy, succulent gray-green leaves that are bronze-tinged. Flowers can last more than six months, softening to mauve-pink then chestnut-bronze as blooms die. Both foliage and dead inflorescences are attractive all winter long. Flowers are attractive to bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies.
