A multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub, Viburnum x rhytidophylloides 'Alleghany' features abundant creamy-white flowers from late May to early June. The very dark green, leathery leaves are semi-evergreen in warmer climates. Much hardier than the species, it grows well at both extremes of its hardiness range. Brilliant red fruit clusters ripen to a blackish-blue color in September and October and are a favorite of birds.
